VACCINE INFORMATION

We highly recommend that pet owners rely on veterinarians for all aspects for their pet’s health care, including all vaccinations.  Veterinarians have completed 7 – 9 years of college study and passed a minimum of three state administered board examinations to be allow to practice in California.  If someone offers your veterinary advice, ask yourself what qualifications they possess in order to administer that advice.

Vaccines purchased from feed stores, pet stores, breeders, individuals and other sources can be dangerous.  There is no guarantee or requirement that these vaccines are stored at proper temperature and can be expired or under recall.  Temperature control from manufacture to administration is absolutely crucial for vaccine viability.

Licensed veterinarians are knowledgeable, trained in how to properly store and administer vaccines, possess current knowledge on vaccine protocols and know how to minimize vaccine risk.  Over-vaccination and under-vaccination can be harmful to your pet and improper vaccine interval and age at the time of vaccination may not appropriately protect your pet which may be a waste of your money.  Only a licensed veterinarian should determine which vaccines should be administered to your pet based upon its age, health history, geographic area and risk of exposure.

  • Ask your current facility if they perform a risk assessment before your pet is vaccinated.

  • Ask yourself if it is wise to save a few dollars only to spend thousands of dollars to treat your pet if it gets sick from a vaccine preventable disease.
